LEGO To Implement Large-scale Packaging and Storage Capacity Expansion

2023. 09. 28.

A EUR 138 million investment by Danish toy maker LEGO is set to bring about yet another round of development at the Nyíregyháza site of the company. Given that packaging and storage capacities will be ramped up significantly, up to 300 new jobs will be created in the 2023-2025 period.

LEGO has been operating in Hungary for 15 years now. The highly automated Hungarian plant in Nyíregyháza is one of the total five facilities of the Danish corporate behemoth all over the world that covers the entire manufacturing process from moulding to decoration to packaging.

The latest development of the site concerns the establishment of 2 new packaging plants, 17 new packaging lines, a manual storage facility and an office building. The area of operation will be expanded by 30,000 square meters thanks to the EUR 138 million investment to increase the total area to over 260,000 square meters by the second half of 2025.

Energy demand will be covered by relying on newly installed solar panels and probably on geothermal heating. The project is set to create 300 new workplaces.
